This mask represents a warrior who had a Hawk as his best friend and hunting partner.. The Hawk traveled with the warrior to many tribes where the warrior would tell his fellowman of the advantages of the Hawk and how one could use them for "spirit rides". He would tell them you could sit upon the Hawk, control its movements and be carried many miles... He told them how he seemed to be floating is space while hunting with his Hawk friend.. The Hawk was thought of as a good Shaman or Medicine man of sorts, and was always there when the elderly were in need of guidance.
