WAR SHIRT LONG SLEEVE with red beads
The Sioux believed when they wore these "ghost" shirts into battle they would be protected from the soldiers' bullets. These shirts would make them invincible and invisible, like ghosts. This is our largest display shirt. The shirt extends a full 58 inches across the width and 42 inches long. This piece is decorated with reproduction brass buttons from General Custer's uniform, horsehair tassels, and bears painted on this weathered buckskin. The extensive fringe makes this piece very striking and is sure to be a focal point in any home.
