The Buffalo was the most important animal to the Plains Indians. It provided him with life's necessities-food, clothing, weapons, shelter and warmth. Many believed the Buffalo were immortal creathers who willingly surrendered thier bodies to the hunter, while their spirits only to be reborn. When there was an abundance of Buffalo the people lived in comfort. The seasonal migration of the herds somtimes brought hardship so supernatural means were sometimes employed to bring back the Buffalo. This medicine wheel hoop may represent the circle of life of the Earth. The Cross is symbolic of the four directions, four winds, four grandfathers, or teachers. A Buffalo skull may have been employed to help invoke the return of the herds which must come from one of the four directions..The medicine bundle, crystal, arrowhead and buffalo tooth would have significance of medicine and power only to thier owner..
